Un exemple de l’inconvenience de voyager en Janvier en WA !!!
Les recents orages dans le centre et le nord de l’etat ont causé d’importantes inondations entrainant la fermeture de plusieurs parcs nationaux.Quote:Weather warning for Pilbara
Update, 11.40am: A weather warning has been issued for the Pilbara after Karijini and Millstream Chichester national parks were closed because of flash flooding.People between Onslow, Paraburdoo, Newman and Wallal, including those in Karratha and Port Hedland, have been warned to prepare for heavy rainfall and damaging winds up to 100km/hour.
The Bureau of Meteorology said a tropical low moving towards the Pilbara coast was unlikely to become a tropical cyclone but would bring heavy rainfall and squally winds today.
Heavy rain started around Karijini about 3pm yesterday, covering roads with water, and the Department of Environment and Conservation has advised travellers to avoid the area around the national parks.
The rain is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
Drivers in the area are advised to stay on major roads, and take note of road closures and signs.
Gorges are particularly dangerous under these conditions, according to the latest advice from the DEC.
Travellers in the park are advised to stay with their vehicles and move to high ground where possible, and not attempt to cross flood ways and streams.
Banjima Drive, which runs east-west across the park, has been closed.
Tourists in the area can get the latest updates on park conditions from local visitor’s centres.
Travellers can also contact the Pilbara Regional Office on 9182 2000 or 9182 2088 in an emergency.
