Natural rights based philosophies of ethics posit that man has a right to property that can’t be infringed upon if the property holder isn’t infringing on anyone else’s rights. Kantian ethical theory says that people must be respected as ends unto themselves, and not used as means for someone else’s ends, although Kant believed that human life was the highest value there is, which leaves the door a little more open for making demands for the sake of others.
