It would be better to go there you can concentrate on your studies and at the same time find a place for your friend where he can do some designing work and at the same time help him out with learning the language and it will not be long before he picks up the language. As you have planned to move to Australia in August, there seems to be plenty of time that he could learn to speak English even though the fluency would be missing, but it will be of great help there.
