Well I guess you win(d). By far.
31 mars 2006 à 15 h 40 min #308641effiskParticipantActually no. Sorry I win.
The proper fight should be:

PS: now if you divide these figures by the respective number of sheep and kangaroos in New Zealand and Australia I’m not sure who wins.

29 avril 2006 à 9 h 20 min #308649OzBoyMembreG’Day Everyone !
I had a phone call yesterday from the agency which organized my trip to Sydney and the trip has been canceled because of a lack of inscription .
But they suggested a new destination , Cairns.
I’ve made some reshearch on the net , and now , I think Cairns would be better than Sydney :
-Hotter Temperature ( Can I say it like that ? ) Sydney : 15 , Cairns : 25
-I’d be near from the corail reef.
-Water : 21° in Winter oOSo , The 4th of July , I take a plane from Paris to London then One London to Singapour then one from Singapour to Cairns !
What a exhausting journey !
30 avril 2006 à 16 h 27 min #308650tadpoleMembreTrue, its a very tiring trip but just think once your there you can relax by the pool, go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters, take late afternoon strolls on the beach (to pick up all the gals!!), drink a cool beer with a friendly crowd in a pub … etc etc. Ah shit, im making myself home sick again!!!
I really think your better off going up north, much better than sydney.
30 avril 2006 à 16 h 43 min #308651OzBoyMembreYep But I’m going with EF , I’ll study my english there . So each morning I’ma have lessons and the afternoon I’ma relax n’ do some funny and cool things like snorkelling , surfing , beer ^^ if they allow me etc .
And you guyz , what do you plan to do this summer ?
30 avril 2006 à 21 h 39 min #308652Kate09MembreHi Oz Boy, Cairns should be a great atmosphere to learn English in….. and you’re right, much warmer than Sydney. Just don’t expect to see a beach at Cairns (more like mangroves and a big man made pool with sandy bottom) – you have to drive quite some way out of Cairns to see a beach. It’s a very lively town at night.
Happy planning!
Kate5 mai 2006 à 8 h 27 min #308653tadpoleMembreYeh, and watch out for the crocs!! They like the taste of frogs legs!! 😛
19 juin 2006 à 11 h 37 min #308654tadpoleMembreWell here I was ready to come and apologize for not writing in the last month and surprise surprise, mine is the last post anyway!!
Oz boy, you should be leaving pretty soon?? Getting excited.
Kate, arent you supposed to be coming over to France soon too??My folks are here from Auckland so ive been busy catching up and sunbathing in my yard (not the same bloody thing as the beach).
Who has been watching the world cup and the georgeous socceroos?? I think they are doing pretty well! Good on em. Cant wait for the rugby world cup here in France next year!! I hope someone will organize something for a couple of the matches, otherwise I’ll have to have all you yobbos over at my house for nibbles and beer! 🙄
anyway, keep in touch all you english topic folks.

I sometimes stay in Orleans, not that often, but I’ll let you know when I’m there.==> i move to Bordeaux in 1month! i wont be in orleans anymore, but if im still there when u come, no worries!!! Cu
24 juin 2006 à 13 h 15 min #308668Kate09MembreHi Everybody,
I’ve just flown back in this morning, so half of me is here, and the rest is on jetlag, don’t really know where I am with only 1 hour of sleep.
Quite a lot of adventures during our 5 week ‘tour de france’ – mostly by train (most of them good, with 2 exceptions, but my carnet de voyage will soon tell all).
I’m still a francophile though despite having my wallet & cards stolen last Monday on the Paris metro, just 2 days before we were due to fly home….then on the metro on the way to the airport for Vietnam on Wednesday, somebody else decided to have a try for my backpack this time, but there was nothing in the pocket they managed to open when they bumped into me in the crowd, so at least I won that one. 😕Back online tomorrow if I’m over the jetlag.
_ Kate, happy to ‘see’ you all again now I’m back online (found it very hard to find internet cafes in France on our travels…..they’re not everywhere like they are here, surprise. )
PS: Welcome to Sarah and Marie too.
24 juin 2006 à 21 h 24 min #308669BuellParticipantSorry to hear you misadventure in Paris’metro.. It is what we call a typical « piege a touriste »: Pickpockets notice you as a foreigner and guess you have quite some change on you for your tour expenses..
Very common in Paris unfortunately-> besides, you don’t feel anything when it’s happening!Anyway, glad you had a « safe » trip (at least the flight was safe! 😉 ) and hope to get in contact with you soon again!
Sorry I wasn’t able to join in Lyon,
I heard you had a great time, so that’s perfect 🙂
Take Care!

Buell6 juillet 2006 à 8 h 53 min #308671tadpoleMembreOz boy must have left by now. I hope he manages to come on the forum from time to time to say a quick hello!!
Not much else to say today, im feeling a bit homesick. 🙁
20 juillet 2006 à 7 h 36 min #308672tadpoleMembreWell, well, well!! I guess everyone is on holidays, soaking up the sun!!
Kate, hope you got home Ok from your long trip and your not suffering from jet lag!!?? God, that is what i hate the most about travelling!!
Well, no holidays for me this summer, we arent going anywhere until end of september and we are going to ireland so no « sun filled » hols for me either I guess. Still, never been there, should be a nice change eh?
24 juillet 2006 à 6 h 27 min #308673Kate09MembreHi everybody, Hi Tadpole.
Didn’t think the jetlag was too bad this time, but 1 month later and I still don’t wake up till 9 am of a morning and my husband is asleep in front of the tv by about 9 pm! 😮
5 hours a day walking for 5 weeks must have been more of ‘a killer’ than we realized 😆 but for seeing villages and cities, it was the best (and so cheap) a way for us.
If it will help your homesickness any, in Victoria at the moment we’re experiencing a fair few -3 deg C frosty, icy mornings, with the occasional brilliant blue (but still only about 8 deg c) day.
I’d love to see Ireland some day, so green and all (even here in Winter, it’s not green yet, still mostly brown because of the drought)
Regards,
Kate5 août 2006 à 12 h 50 min #308674tadpoleMembreYeh, true Kate. I dont get homesick when I remember how freezing I used to be in winter in Melbourne. I hated getting up in the morning to go to school and I mostly remember puffing up my clothes with hot air over the duct heating before putting them on!! 🙂
Then the sticking hot summers and the water restrictions.
The thing I loved the most was the Moomba parade every year with family and freinds. Do they still have that Kate??6 août 2006 à 6 h 07 min #308675Kate09MembreHi Tadpole, about Moomba, I wasn’t sure, as it’s been years since I’ve seen it on tv…but it still exists, under a new name.

10 août 2006 à 11 h 09 min #308676tadpoleMembreWhy change it?? The Melbourne Moomba sounded quite neat eh?
Anyway, mum and dad have gone … feeling a bit lonely. Cant wait now for our holidays in september to ireland. Nothing like a bit of beer and musique to cheer you up!!
10 août 2006 à 18 h 38 min #308677hash_kaMembreHey everyone !!
What a brilliant idea to post in English ! I lived in Ireland for a year and in Oz for a year as well and I miss speaking English ! I really do. Nobody speaks English here.
I’d love to meet ozzies in my city. So if you are ozzie and live in Toulouse : email me NOW !!!!! 😀Anyway, I’ll come on this forum more often now.
Tadpole : you’re gonna love Ireland ! it’s such a beautiful country and Irish are really friendly people. Ireland is like my second home !
See ya folks

25 août 2006 à 15 h 23 min #308678tadpoleMembreHiya Hiedi!!
Lucky you living in the one place in france id love to live, toulose. The good weather, the neat lively town and the sexy stade toulousain rugbymen!! how i envy you!!
Yeh, im pretty sure ill love ireland, so far even the phone contact for reserving bed and breakfasts has been really warm, calling me by my first name, cant wait to meet you etc!!
anyway, hope to see you more here on the english topic, it is quite often down the bottom of the forum list or on page two!! gotta keep it up the top eh? 😮
25 août 2006 à 19 h 13 min #308679hash_kaMembreYeah, it’s true ! I don’t know why people don’t come here to chat in English.
I love speaking English. I’m looking forward to going back to Uni in October. I’ll be learning English of course !!Sometimes I kind of wish I lived in the North of France JUST because it’s not too far from England. I don’t have a particular interest in England but at least I could speak English ! Actually, I wish Ireland was closer to France.
It’s such a lovely place !Anyway… i’m stuck in France for the next 3 years ! how sad is that ? 😕
